DEFRA announce formation of Commission on environmental markets and performance

November 2006 saw details of a review that is to be undertaken into how the UK can make the most of the key opportunities from the growing demand for environmental goods and services. This is to be achieved through the establishment of a Commission on Environmental Markets and Economic Performance.

The Commission, to be jointly chaired by Environment Secretary David Miliband and Trade and Industry Secretary Alistair Darling, will report in Spring 2007 with its recommendations. These will include how further stimulation of the EGS sector in the UK can assist in raising employment within the industry as well as increasing its economic profile.

Further information can be found on the DEFRA website.
